School achieves re-registration as a Registered Training Organisation (RTO)

February 2009

The School has been an RTO for over a decade and every five years has to apply to VETAB for re-registration. A key element of the re-registration process is an extensive audit conducted by one of the Boards compliance officers. The Schools compliance with the AQTF three "Essential Standards for Registration", each comprising a number of elements:

  • Standard 1: The RTO provides quality training and assessment across all its operations.
  • Standard 2: The RTO adheres to principles of access and equity and maximises outcomes for its clients.
  • Standard 3: Management systems are responsive to the needs of clients, staff and stakeholders, and the environment in which the RTO operates.

The School was assessed as compliant in all elements of each Standard – an outstanding result. Below are some of the auditor’s comments from the audit report:

  • "has made many improvements in order to ensure the provision of quality training and assessment both currently and into the future"
  • "the continued development of customised learning and assessment resources and the extensive planning and development in preparation for the suite of Active Volunteering qualifications to be endorsed in 2009, will enhance the continuation of quality training provision"
  • "RTO works to maximise outcomes for learners and has systems in place to cater for the needs of individuals. Improvements in pre-enrolment information and ultimately learner support via the RTO’s website are significant inputs in order to maximise learner outcomes"
  • "The RTO has strengthened its management systems as part of the review and restructure activity during 2008. the appointment of capable and experienced management, detailed business planning, extensive financial review and costing and the up-grade of communication systems are but some examples"
  • "Future plans and new systems combine to indicate a continuum in continuous improvement activity"
  • "The RTO manager stated – Just pulling off the shelf is not what we’re about"
  • "the RTO seeks extensive workplace inputs and engagement to develop plans in relation to the delivery, monitoring and responsibilities of training and assessment delivered in the workplace"
  • "has systems in place to cater for the needs of individuals and to ensure that the learner does not enrol in an unsuitable qualification"
